Opulent Red 03:43
[*Look! at how much light Unlikely windows have shed Into our bodies, all lined inside With such an opulent red…*] We know that given space We would grow flowers right out of our mouths And our blooming faces would make this place into a field And can you imagine the richness that such a space would yield? [*] You’ve got beautiful bright lights in your head and Luminous blood in the heart in your chest and All that’s inside you is lined with velvet so Open the window Open the window, let the sunlight in Your opulent red softness is no sin What defines you has no skin Has no skin.
2.
Clamour 03:51
You come in / all shining / into the / kitchen and / I tell you / you’re too bright / you’re too bright You’re too loud man, could you turn yourself down man? It’s a clamorous world, this wireless age For a woman at home in the silence of space And the only one I ever take out my rage on is you And I find myself sometimes holding my breath In a chronic habitual tightness of chest and its blocking off the Full flow of my love to you You come in / all shining / into the / kitchen and / I tell you / you’re too bright / you’re too bright You come streaming in through my kitchen window, do I tell you you’re too bright, you’re too bright? You’re too hot, sun Could you turn yourself off sun? Clamorous world, could you take a step back baby? SIlent space girl, needs to claim her voice back lately and the Man and the Sun, are gonna keep on radiating and the Quiet woman insists on still creating
3.
Stilts 04:37
I was meant to live in a garden But I’ve had to content myself with visiting them How much more of this wandering, Trying out different lives and pondering them until our children if they’re fond of them Can live full time in a garden? [*It’s the 21st Century But before the end of corporatocracy Just around about when we decided We were free*] You were built to live on top of a hill In a house swaying on stilts and still you’d like to be higher But will you come down for me And put your hands in the ground with me, so our children as they grow will see us meeting in the middle? [*] And our children might well want to live in the city But if they dream of living under a great old tree Promise me, that so it shall be So it shall be.
4.
Skyholes 04:32
All the holes in the fabric of the sky Reveal endless stars to our eyes All the holes in your own fabric Make maps of your magic Don’t you wanna just breathe? Love is all there is, at least All that there might be if we Let ourselves be who we are And weren’t afraid of being Big bright stars, and being untamed Or distant stars, as yet unnamed… Don’t you wanna just breathe?
5.
I am a dreaming woman Waking up Opening my eyes inside The only home I have now The forest shack of a poet The most honest house I know You know I have been inspired to love A thousand times My heart is tired of beseeching eyes So I crave the steady gaze of truth With all of this joy as proof That freedom is a precious dream where our hearts stay open and our minds are clean and we can make an honest living.

about

Anactoria Candelo, Australia

Maybe it was being born at the dawn of the 90s straight into the dead heart of low-income suburban Australia, or maybe not, but something caused Tamlyn Magee to become a constant turner-over of stones in search of lost meaning or unexpected delight. Her solo music project Anactoria is the natural extension of that tendency. ... more
